Building Milwaukee's Future with Katie Schober and Leah Rosenbaum of STEAM Milwaukee

In the latest episode of STEAM in MKE, Steve welcomes Katie Schober and Leah Rosenbaum, the visionary leaders behind STEAM Milwaukee, an organization transforming education across the city.

Katie, an experienced educator with a background in middle school science, and Leah, an education researcher specializing in learning sciences, have combined their expertise to create a resource hub addressing a critical gap in Milwaukee's educational landscape.

At its core, STEAM Milwaukee operates on a simple but powerful belief: every student deserves hands-on learning every day. The organization lends essential materials and equipment to schools and teachers, removing resource barriers that often prevent engaging, experiential education.

Beyond providing materials, STEAM Milwaukee offers crucial support to teachers who may feel isolated in their efforts to deliver innovative curriculum, serving as a thought partner and connecting educators across schools.

Looking toward the future, Katie and Leah envision STEAM Milwaukee evolving into a physical hub for teachers and developing partnerships with local businesses like Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories to showcase real-world STEAM careers.

Launched in 2021 and fully operational by 2023, STEAM Milwaukee also offers families the opportunity to rent educational kits during school breaks.
